Barrels Kangxi, Qing Dynasty

BARRELS. Palatine Porcelain. Around bowl-shaped with decor in the form of a dragon, clouds and firebox ornaments. On the surface of the bottom in blue underglaze within 2 concentric rings a s.k imperial mark (nihao) showing that the barrel is made during the reign of Kangxi during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Purchased 1907 at Samson in Paris for 585 francs. A model item after which Samson produced copies for sale.
A beautiful barrel in green and eggplant, with a dragon and a Kangximärke with six characters. The barrel was bought from the Samson factory in Paris, where it was used as a complaint in the production of copies of Chinese porcelain in the late 1800s. In China, this particular pattern appeared on imperial estates used by concubines, with the lowest rank at formal dinners. During the Qing Dynasty, each rank within the former imperial household had definite styles of clothing, personal embellishments, tableware and emblems that lived their social position
