The Relationship between Actors and Industry in 1960s Taiwanese-Language Cinema

This chapter examines the relationship between taiyupian stars and the film industry. In the 1960s, taiyupian was extremely profitable, but the industry didn’t develop a mechanism to regulate its relationship with actors. As the taiyupian industry was unable to develop a contractual system with actors and studios, the flow of is personnel and resources remained highly fluid and flexible.
