CONDITION OF MOTOR PARK FACILITIES IN KANO METROPOLIS

Condition of Motor Park Facilities and its Effect to Economic Development in Kano Metropolis. The aim is to the effect/influence of the condition of motor parks facilities to economic development in Kano metropolis through the following objectives; identifying the existing facilities in the motor park, assessing the condition of the facilities in the motor parks, assessing the effects of the motor park facilities condition to economic development. The research design is survey research and the approach is mixed method. The population of the study is the number of motor parks in Kano metropolis (35) and the average daily passengers patronising the motor parks in Kano metropolis (2160) sample for motor parks (5) and sample for passenger (400). The findings revealed that; Ninety Eight Percent (98%) of the facilities are present at the motor parks; The general condition of the facilities at the motor parks is fair at (3.37) on scale of (1-5). It’s concluded that Motor parks in general are integral part of economic development in any region as it’s the origin and destination of a trip. Recommendations provided are that; Major passenger facilities and services absent in some motor parks and other supporting passenger facilities and services should be provided especially in the new motor parks; The condition of the passenger facilities and services should be enhance and maintain through adequate maintenance, improvement of the existing facilities and replacement of outdated and dearth facilities and services; The economic activities within the motor parks need to be organise and coordinate as well other economic activities (Banks, Postal Service etc..) be established in the motor parks.
