During October 2004, an excavation was conducted along the eastern slopes, west of 'En Eshtori (Permit No. A-4264; map ref. 248450/711300), in the wake of damage to the site caused by digging a trench for a water pipe by the Meqorot Company. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, was directed by D. Avshalom-Gorni, with the assistance of Y. Lavan (administration), V. Essman, V. Pirsky and A. Shapiro (surveying), H. Smithline, N. Getzov and A. Ben-Zioni (field and studio photography) and workers supplied by the Ministry of Labor.
