Architekt a fotografie. Jeden z příběhů Josefa Schulze / Architect and Photography. One of the Stories of Josef Schulz
View through CrossRef
Josef Schulz (1840–1917) is known by most of us mainly as an architect, the author of the design for the building of the National Museum, co-author of the Rudolfinum or the author of the reconstruction of the building of the National Theatre in Prague that had been destroyed by fire. Few people know that, besides architecture, he was also interested in photography throughout his life. The aim of the small publication, which is conceived as a companion to the exhibition of the same name, is to present Josef Schulz as a proficient photographer-amateur and collector of photographs and to show how his architectural and photographic interests intertwined with one another. The published photographs (i.e., reproductions of collodion negatives and albumen positives) come from the collection of the Department of Documentation of the Institute of Art History of the CAS, and are supplemented by several images and documents from other institutions (Prague City Archives and the Archives of the National Museum).
