Taxonomia de Phylloicus Müller, 1880 (Trichoptera: Calamoceratidae) da Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável do Uatumã, Amazonas, Brasil

View through CrossRef
Phylloicus Müller, 1880 is the second-largest genus in number of described species in the New World (66 species), while Brazil, the Brazilian Amazon and the state of Amazonas have 30, nine, and six species, respectively. The study area, the Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS), is a state conservation unit (UC) for sustainable use, but there are records of deforestation in the area, which may cause changes to watercourses and the consequent extinction of species. Thus, our objective was to characterize the Phylloicus Müller, 1880 (Trichoptera: Calamoceratidae) fauna in the Uatumã RDS, inventory the species of the genus that occur in the area, associate immature stages with adults, and describe and illustrate new species and the immature stages of associated species. For this purpose, larval and adult collections were carried out in the Uatumã RDS, located between the municipalities of Itapiranga and São Sebastião do Uatumã, state of Amazonas, on the banks of the Uatumã River, in September and November 2022, in 20 streams. The larvae were collected manually, and the adults were collected using Malaise traps and collapsible Pennsylvania-type light traps. The immatures reared in the laboratory were identified using specialized keys, as were the adults, larvae, pupae and shelters. The genitalia of the adults were cleared and observed under a microscope, and identification was performed at the species level. Phylloicus dumasi Santos & Nessimian, 2010; P. fenestratus Flint, 1974; P. eletktoros Prather, 2003; and two new species were identified: Phylloicus unicarinatus sp. nov. and Phylloicus curupira sp. nov. The larvae and pupae of P. dumasi and P. curupira sp. nov. were associated with the adult and were illustrated and described.
