Władysław Leopold Jaworski (1865–1930) articulated his political concepts beginning in the early 1920s, emphasising the need to strengthen the constitutional position of the head of state. He believed only a strong executive could make the state stable. This study examines two crucial sources that help illuminate Jaworski’s conception of the presidency. The first is a letter he wrote to Count Zdzisław Tarnowski in late July 1928, which had not been published in a complete form. In this letter, Jaworski briefly compared the role of the president in his proposal to that of a monarch. The second source is an excerpt from his notes (Notatki), where he explored the president’s position in the context of the relationship between law and morality.
