This chapter notes how Ilya Repin Yefimovich, a known painter, honored Ivan Bunin. According to Repin, he dreamt of painting Bunin and was delighted to meet painter Nilus, who was Bunin's friend and also a painter skilled with colors. The chapter mentions how Repin considered Bunin a splendid writer. However, before Repin could paint him every morning in his studio and have lunch that the Good Lord ordained, Bunin refused. The chapter explains that Bunin had terribly urgent business in Petersburg and promptly made a mad dash to the station, while also mentioning the telegram letter he wrote to Repin about his urgent summons to Moscow.
