RESPONSE OF VARIOUS BIO-RESOURCE ON PRODUCTIVITY, JUICE QUALITY AND ECONOMICS OF SUGARCANE (SACCHARUM OFFICINARUM)

View through CrossRef
The combine application of farmyard manure, pressmud, vermicompost, ghanjeevamruth and biofertilizers in sugarcane cultivation is a sustainable and eco-friendly approach. Ghanjeevamruth is a valuable organic resource that can enhance soil fertility and promote healthier sugarcane crops. When used along with other sustainable farming practices, it contributes to improve yields, better crop quality, and reduced reliance on synthetic inputs, aligning with eco-friendly and sustainable sugarcane cultivation. An experiment was conducted during three consecutive years of spring season i.e. 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22 at the research farm of Genda Singh Sugarcane Breeding and Research Institute, Seorahi Kushinagar to study the effectiveness of various nutrient management practices on yield, quality and economics of sugarcane. The soil of the experimental plot was medium in organic carbon, available phosphorus, and low in potash with pH of 8.10. The experiment comprised of ten treatments i.e. T1- Conventional practice, T2- Application of farm yard manure @ 10t/ha+100%NPK through inorganics +biofertilizers (Azoctobacter + phosphate solubilizing bacteria) @ 10 kg per ha each, T3- Application of farm yard manure @ 10t/ha+75 %NPK through inorganics+biofertilizers (Azoctobacter + phosphate solubilizing bacteria)  @ 10 kg per ha each, T4- Application of press mud cake @ 5t/ha+100%NPK through inorganics +biofertilizers (Azoctobacter + phosphate solubilizing bacteria) @ 10 kg per ha each, T5- Application of press mud cake @ 5t/ha+75%NPK through inorganics +biofertilizers (Azoctobacter + phosphate solubilizing bacteria) @ 10 kg per ha each, T6- Application of vermicompost @ 2.5t/ha+100%NPK through inorganics+biofertilizers (Azoctobacter + phosphate solubilizing bacteria) @ 10 kg per ha each, T7- Application of vermicompost @ 2.5t/ha+75%NPK through inorganics+biofertilizers (Azoctobacter + phosphate solubilizing bacteria) @ 10 kg per ha each, T8-Application of ghanjeevamrutha 2.5 t/ha+100% NPK through inorganics + jeevamrutha @ 500 litre per ha with irrigation water at monthly interval upto juneT9- Application of ghanjeevamrutha 2.5 t/ha+75% NPK through inorganics + jeevamrutha @ 500 litre per ha with irrigation water at monthly interval upto june, T10- Application of ghanjeevamrutha 2.5 t/ha + jeevamrutha @ 500 litre/ha with irrigation water at monthly interval upto June (Natural Farming) were laid out in randomized block design with three replications. Shoot population was recorded significantly higher in T2 (173.06), T6 (177.67) and T8 (170.09 thousand per hectare) as comparison with conventional practice. Treatments T2, T4, T6 and T8 produced significantly higher number of millable cane (113.19, 110.03, 105.41 and 110.93, thousand per hectare, respectively) and cane yield (95.51, 90.56, 96.40 and 95.20 t/ha, respectively) over conventional practice. Cane productivity was increased 17.78, 11.62, 18.90 and 17.40 percent in T2, T4, T6 and T8 treatments, respectively against conventional practice. CCS percent was recorded significantly higher in T2 (12.37) and T4 (12.40) over conventional practice (12.16).
