Sponsoring the event were ASTM Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices and ASTM Committee B10 on Reactive and Refractory Metals and Alloys. The symposium chairmen were Hugh A. Luckey, 3M Orthopedic Products, and Fred Kubli, Jr., RMI Company, both of whom also served as editors of this publication.
