Effects of Interior Color Environment on User Experience and Behavioral Intention in Yacht Interior Spaces
View through CrossRef
Yacht interior design plays an important role in shaping user experience and spatial perception, with color design considered a key factor influencing spatial atmosphere and emotional responses. However, existing studies have mainly focused on architectural or commercial environments, while research on color experience in marine interior spaces remains limited. This study examines the influence of different color schemes on users’ spatial experience in yacht cabin public areas.
Based on the Stimulus–Organism–Response (S-O-R) framework in environmental psychology, spatial color was treated as an environmental stimulus. An experimental questionnaire method was employed to evaluate users’ spatial perception, emotional experience, and behavioral intention under different color environments. Three interior color schemes were designed while keeping the spatial layout consistent, and user evaluations were measured using a semantic differential scale.
A total of 100 valid questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, and one-way ANOVA. The results indicate that yacht interior color design significantly influences user experience. High-lightness natural color schemes enhanced spatial openness and emotional comfort, while warm luxury schemes performed better in perceived design quality and premium perception. These findings provide empirical support for color strategies in yacht interior design and offer insights for marine spatial environment research.
