Efficacy of Different Botanicals against Aphid on Wheat Crop

Wheat is the main cereal crop of Pakistan and more than half of the population consume as primary food throughout the world. In contrast, wheat production is very less because of the attack of wheat aphid. There is a dire need to develop the potential control to reduce aphid infestation in wheat crops. Therefore, a field investigation was conducted to determine the comparative efficacy of different botanical ingredients against wheat aphid. The data showed in the first spray of botanical pesticides the that maximum mortality percentage was observed in the application of synthetic insecticide Matoi (87.49%) followed by Neem (83.96%), Trooh (78.57%), Conocarpus (71.53%) and Eucliptus (65.67%) compare with control respectively. Similarly, after second spray the maximum mortality was recorded in synthetic pesticide Matoi (90.76%) followed by Neem (87.82%), Trooh (83.72%), Conocarpus (75.51%) and Eucliptus (70.01%), respectively. The overall results showed that there is no any significant difference was recorded in both treatment matoi synthetic pesticides and Neem. The finding of current study the maximum reduction percentage at different time intervals against wheat aphid in both sprays were recorded after 72h in all treatments followed by 48h and 24hrs.Therefore, it is suggested that synthetic pesticides Matoi and Neem leaf extracts may be sprayed against wheat aphid due to its maximum reduction population.
