The probabilistic estimation of qnartet invariants

Abstract Hauptman’s and Giacovazzo’s approaches differ principally on two points: Hauptman regards the reciprocal lattice vectors as the primitive random variables, while Giacovazzo considers the atomic positional vectors as the primitive random variables; different mathematical techniques are used. Giacovazzo (1977J) showed that Hauptman’s results may be obtained from (5.15) and (5.18) no matter whether the atomic positional vectors or the reciprocal lattice vectors are the primitive random variables.
