Vas. Yongzheng-early Qianlong The Qing Dynasty

VASE. Vase in gu-form with swung mouth and foot. Around life a protruding band with pressed braid patterns in three places interrupted by external vertical tooth slabs. The shape reproduces the classic wine beaker, gu. At the edge of the foot, three Chinese characters carved “Tsing-feng tsao” i.e. “Made from Tsing-feng.” Purchased by Wilhelmina von Hallwyl at the master dealer J.Bossard in Lucerne in 1911. Price 200 Frcs. The subject comes out of the American Mr. A.E. Jessup’s collection at Schloss Lenzburg which J. Bossard was commissioned to sell. Former holder of Bukowski’s art trade, Mr C.U.Palm visited Schloss Lenzburg in 1911, where he made a selection from Mr. Jessup’s collection for Wilhelmina von Hallwyl.
