Roman Coin Hoards from Egypt

Chapter 10 examines the different approaches taken by recent scholarly works on Roman Egyptian numismatics to see how to push things forward from the situation in 2014, when E. Christiansen published his last numismatic article with a statement that could not be clearer: Mission Completed. Ten years earlier, the same author had published his Coinage in Roman Egypt: The Hoard Evidence. With a total of approximately 140,000 coins from more than 130 hoards, the study of Roman coin hoards in Egypt owes his work a huge debt. However, scholars working in this field face several issues. Is it necessary to record new hoards? Will new data change perception of the image of Alexandrian coinage?
