In the background of the picture water towers in Jernbanegade seen from the poor farm, Bredgade 17, Roskilde. At the forefront in the picture, the garden of the poor farm with a garden path - the garden went all the way down to Railway Street.

Giver’s recently deceased wife was the daughter of Gerda Christiansen.
Gerda Christiansen, who was married to the manager at the poverty farm in Bredgade, Oscar Christiansen (1878-1934).
Gerda Christiansen was later married to watchmaker Søren Guldager, Skomagergade 31, Roskilde.
