Problems of modern legal education in the Russian Federation

Background. In the Russian Federation, education is considered a key factor in determining the well-being of both citizens and the country as a whole. This priority is enshrined in the legislation of the Russian Federation at the highest level. The need for qualified professionals in various fields drives the government’s commitment to creating the necessary conditions for the population to receive high-quality education. Legal education holds a special significance in this context. As a rule, most government officials, particularly those in law enforcement agencies, are required to have a legal background. In addition, society requires qualified lawyers to maintain the mechanisms of the rule of law, democracy, and the functioning of civil society. The quality of legal education in the country also affects the effectiveness of legislative, judicial, law enforcement, and other legal activities. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly monitor the quality of legal education. Purpose. The study of existing problems in the field of modern legal education in the Russian Federation, followed by an assessment of their destructive impact on the training of qualified personnel in the field of jurisprudence. Materials and methods. When writing the article, general methods were used, such as generalization, comparison, description, as well as general scientific methods, in particular, the logical method. In addition, a special legal method was used - a formal legal method, as well as some interdisciplinary methods, for example, the statistical method. To write this paper, we studied statistical data on the legal services market, in particular, open data published by official publications of the Russian Federation, data provided by Businessstat LLC, as well as information published on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The scientific component is represented by relevant scientific articles on the subject under study. In addition, certain regulatory legal acts were analyzed. Results. In this work, a tendency has been established to change the education system in the Russian Federation and directly to change the system of legal education. It has been proved that the existing trends towards changing the legal framework in the field of legal education are due to a decrease in the quality of such education and problems with the functioning of the entire legal industry as a whole. In order to identify the reasons for the decline in the quality of legal education, the most pressing problems of legal education in our country, as well as the negative consequences of the existence of such problems, were identified and analyzed.
