2,700 Jewish Immigrants landed at Haifa - bodies of two dead held aloft in Anti-British demonstration. 19/04/1947. Picture taken at Haifa port as 2,700 illegal Jewish immigrants disembarked from the steamer "Guardian" flying the Jewish flag. One of the biggest illegal ships the vessel was crowded from stem to stern. On deck the bodies of the two men who had been killed in a clash lay wrapped in Jewish blue and white flags. Holding up these bodies at arm’s length the immigrants shouted to soldiers on the jetty "you killed them, down with Bevin’s Government."
