Impact of Information and Communication Technology on Employees’ Performance in Zenith Bank Plc Nigeria

View through CrossRef
The study looked into the effects of two information and communication technology (ICT) components - the intranet and e-mail - on workers' performance at Zenith Bank Plc. The research design used in the study was descriptive. A sample size of 320 employees was chosen from among the 1900 total staff members of Zenith Bank branches in Southwest Nigeria, which made up the target population. The results of hypothesis one showed R-value of 0.765 and ρ-value ˂ 0.05 which indicate strong evidence against the null hypothesis. F-statistical of 447.840 indicates that overall regression model is highly statistically significant. This shows positive contribution of intranet facility to employee effectiveness. The results of hypothesis two showed R-value of 0.758 and ρ-value ˂ 0.05 which indicate strong evidence against the null hypothesis. F-statistical of 430.531 indicates that overall regression model is highly statistically significant. The result revealed that there is significant impact of e-mail messaging on efficiency of employees in Zenith Bank Plc. The study concludes and recommends that both Intranet facility and E-mail messaging should be encouraged in Zenith Bank Plc. It should be adopted as the major mode of communication in the bank, as it is revealed in the study that e-mail messaging improves operational efficiency and communication cost can be reduced using e-mail messaging.
