resin landscape

View through Europeana Collections
Erich Krüger has created an atmospheric resin landscape. The image lives from contrast, on the one hand the bright deciduous trees, on the other the dark conifers. In between, a river, in its riverbed and on its banks store large boulders. The trees are reflected in the smooth water surface. The picture is signed at the bottom left and slightly damaged. Erich Krüger was born in Berlin in 1897 and died in 1978 in Benzingerode. He studied landscape, animal and flower painting at the Berlin Art Academy. In 1943 his Berlin apartment was bombed out and therefore he moved from Berlin to Benzingerode/Harz. He became a “resin painter” and a “flower painter.” (Wernigerode Harz Museum)
