ADOPTION OF ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITIES IN QUANTITY SURVEYORS’ ROLES IN BAUCHI, NIGERIA

Alike every profession, entrepreneurship in Quantity Surveying seeks the organisation of business ventures and assumes the risk for such profession. Over reliance on conventional practices has proven unsustainable, given the highly volatile global and local economic landscape, necessitating a paradigm shift for the profession's long-term survival in quantity surveying. This study examined the shift towards entrepreneurship in quantity surveying profession by survey adopting primary source of data via Likert-scaled questionnaire administration. Snowball sampling technique was adopted in selecting sample units from Quantity surveyors in Bauchi, Nigeria. Out of  the 95 questionnaires administered, 61 questionnaires were retrieved; having Principal Partners, Partners, Senior Quantity Surveyors and Junior Quantity Surveyors who are Associate members and Fellow members as the inclusion criteria. A test-retest method was conducted for the for reliability of the instrument and content validity was also conducted. The study found that the major entrepreneur skills Quantity Surveyors in Bauchi Nigeria are aware of are Continuous Learning and Adaptability while the most entrepreneurship skill used is incorporate life cycle cost analysis.
