Іmproving Professional Level of Information and Library Workers of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv

The article presents the experience of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv in improving the professional level of information and library workers. It was found that a clear system of continuous professional development of each employee has been built within the institution. It covers traditional and innovative forms of advanced training. Among the traditional forms of professional development, the most common are distance learning, self-study, internship, preparation and holding of book and illustration exhibitions. Innovative forms involve targeted training and obtaining a master’s degree, candidate’s and doctorate’s degrees, participation in scientific and practical activities within the institution and beyond, as well as involving librarians in the implementation of collective scientific research and grant projects. The need for constant updating of theoretical and practical knowledge in accordance with the requirements of modern society, mastering innovative methods and techniques for solving professional tasks is emphasized.
