U.S. Utility's Experience with Surveillance Dosimetry
View through CrossRef
Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) has completed a series of calculations and measurements for benchmarking the neutron flux in and outside the reactor vessel wall of the H. B. Robinson, Unit No. 2 (HBR2) reactor vessel. Transport calculations have been performed over the height of the core region and correlated with reactor cavity and internal surveillance capsule measurements. Corrections in the calculational approaches were found necessary. An additional improvement on determinations has been provided by ORNL's application of LEPRICON to the HBR2 dosimetry and vessel.
Having found cavity dosimetry measurements superior to those from internal dosimetry capsules at HBR2, CP &L has added the former in the cavities of its BWRs and is contemplating its use at the new Shearon Harris PWR.
