Condenados de Manuel Mur Oti (1953): Lorca en Castilla / Condenados by Manuel Mur Oti (1953): Lorca in Castille

Condenados, tercer largometraje del cineasta gallego Manuel Mur Oti, es un apasionado drama rural que narra la historia de un sangriento triángulo amoroso. Pese a tratarse de la adaptación de una obra teatral de José Suárez Carreño, el análisis fílmico de la película, articulado en torno a la puesta en escena de las miradas de sus protagonistas, revela que en realidad el filme solo guarda relación argumental con l a obra original, centrada en el concepto calderoniano de la honra. Mur Oti depura todos los componentes sociales, religiosos y psicológico s del texto de Suárez Carreño para poner en escena un relato mítico, una cosmogonía temáticamente vinculada al resto de dramas rurales firmados por el autor, sobre el hombre y la mujer primigenios de naturaleza esencialmente fecunda. Un relato más estrechamente emparentado con el espíritu de la tragedia lorquiana que con el tradicional drama rural que le sirve de base en tanto que Aurelia, protagonista femenina de Condenados, se nos presenta como heredera directa de la Yerma de Lorca, dispuesta a sacrificar de manera irracional su propia naturaleza por mantener un matrimonio que el destino le ha otorgado, pese a que ello suponga la condena a la eterna esterilidad.Palabras clave: Condenados, Mur Oti, Suárez Carreño, Lorca, Yerma, drama rural.AbstractCondenados, Manuel Mur Oti’s third film, is a passionate rural drama which depicts a bloody love triangle. Although based upon a play by José Suárez Carreño, the analysis of the mise en scène reveals that, in fact, the film adaptation shares only the original plotline dealing with the traditional concept of honour. Mur Oti purges every social, religious or psychological element from Suárez Carreño´s text and stages, like in his other rural dramas, a mythical tale, a cosmogony about the primordial and essentially fertile male and female. The film is closer in spirit to Lorca’s tragedy than to the play it adapts since Aurelia , the protagonist of Condenados, is portrayed as Yerma´s reflect ion: a woman irrationally ready to sacrifice her own female essence in order to save the marriage she´s been given by fate, even if such a decision condemns her to eternal infertility.Keywords: Condenados, Mur Oti, Suárez Carreño, Lorca, Yerma, rural drama.
