Translation and Commentary

This chapter is a commentary on an ancient commentary. It provides a new edition of the Hebrew text and an accompanying English translation. It sequentially follows the pesherist in his reading of the prophecy of Habakkuk, and divides the scroll according to its sense-units. Each section is further subdivided into two sections of ‘Notes’ and ‘Comments’. The former establishes the text, its readings, grammatical forms, and syntax. The latter comments on the broad themes, motifs, and historical references. This chapter forms the close study of the Habakkuk Pesher that underpins and substantiates the synthesis of the introductory chapter.
