Graphite pencil (ca. 1650)

Brass holder with a graphite rod. Three recesses marked with crosses for locking the adjustment knob. The graphite holder was found in the shipwreck BZN17 (Palmwood Wreck) in the Wadden Sea near Texel and was probably used in the navigation of the ship.
