Silversmed Birgitta Hilling 1945 is educated at the Art Industry School in Gothenburg (HDK) 1964 - 1969.
She often works with the combination silver and enamel. The Bohuslänan nature fr a sea, inspires in the jewelery creation as well as ancient Nordic motifs and patterns.
Birgitta Hilling operates since 1972 “Smedja Argentum” in Grindstorp, Spekeröd south of Stenungsund with studio and business.
A lot are examples of products with a residential connection to sales in the museum store, Bohusläns museum. The museum store began selling Birgitta Hillings jewellery in September 1988 and is an example of a residential crafts/crafts/objects developed with tradition as a basis in the 1990s.
See brochure The picture screen, UM026946 and website on the Internet.
The subject is collected in connection with the own produced exhibition FRAMTIDSTRO. The exhibition was shown at Bohusläns museum on 19 September 1999 - 9 January 2000 in a collaborative project between some western Swedish museums, including: Göteborg’s Stadsmuseum, Älvsborg County Museum, Varberg Museum and Bohusläns Museum The project Framtidstro was a national cooperation project between the Nordic Museum and the County Museums in Sweden and a continuation of the project Sveriges Historia. The project wanted to be a common manifestation in the context of the Millennium.
At Bohusläns museum, the subject of the exhibition became DESCRIPTION on the theme existed 1000 years ago, exists in 1000 years. The objects had classical shapes, simple objects in which several millennia have found their design. Objects and photos gave a brief sweep through Västra Götaland in time and space on a number of current themes. Items from all times were selected from the collections and supplemented with the purchase of their modern counterparts, most recently from Åhlén. Some of the everyday objects were taken to the collections to complement large older objects categories with contemporary counterparts.
In Bohusläns museum’s exhibition there was a mailbox where visitors could put their comments and thoughts about the future. The letter harvest is in the museum’s archives.
