SEMANTIC PECULIARITIES OF INTERJECTIONS IN HELEN FIELDING’S NOVEL “BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY”

The given article aims at studying various scholars’ approaches to interjections. It should be noted that scholars regard interjections as involuntary or uncontrolled verbalizations - symptomatic signals, as far as they involve the speaker’s conscious evaluation of the situation. We also focus on the most important aspects of English interjections, studying various principles of their classification and illustrating the role of interjections in the formation of the subjective emotive, as well as evaluative modality in the novel “Bridget Jones’s Diary.” Moreover, we concentrate on the role interjections play in the process of comprehension of the communicative value the author intends to convey to the readers.
