STUDIARE LA LINGUA ITALIANA CON DUOLINGO

L’articolo ha per oggetto principale Duolingo, ossia una app per l’apprendimento delle lingue estremamente diffusa. La premessa espone elementi e dati sull’uso sempre più esteso dei dispositivi portatili per l’apprendimento e sull’“apprendimento mobile”, indicandone i vantaggi secondo la letteratura di riferimento. Nelle fasi successive viene presentata la app e il suo funzionamento e vengono illustrati gli studi più recenti sulla sua efficacia, pubblicati sul sito ufficiale della piattaforma stessa. Proprio da questi spunti parte la fase successiva di questa indagine, con la presentazione di un sondaggio proposto a utilizzatori dell’app che studiano la lingua italiana e sulle cui risposte viene costruita una ipotesi di identikit degli apprendenti e quindi dei loro bisogni formativi. Il sondaggio viene pubblicato su Facebook e Reddit, quindi su ambienti digitali che sono in linea con la tipologia di utenti che cercano percorsi formativi, appunto, online e che costituiscono, quindi, una tipologia di apprendente che può rappresentare un campo di indagine nuovo e dinamico. All’analisi dei risultati si collegano alcune riflessioni sulle modalità di studio dell’italiano, a supporto delle quali vengono allegate due appendici (A e B) che mostrano gli screenshot di alcuni elementi di Duolingo e risposte alle domande 10 e 12 del sondaggio, che offrono spunti di riflessione particolarmente interessanti.   Learning the Italian language with Duolingo The article has as its main focus Duolingo, an extremely popular app for language learning. The premise presents elements and data relating to the increasingly widespread use of portable learning devices and the concept of “mobile learning” and its advantages according to reference literature. The app is then presented, as well as the most recent studies on its efficacy, which are published on the official website of Duolingo itself. Building upon these ideas, the next phase of the article introduces a survey submitted to users of the app who study the Italian language, on whose answers a hypothetical profile of such learners - and therefore of their learning needs - is then outlined. The survey was posted on Facebook and Reddit, namely on digital environments that are widely known by users who are looking for online training courses; therefore, they embody a type of learner who can represent a new and dynamic field of research. The analysis of the results is intertwined with reflections on learning the Italian language with the aid of digital devices, which are bolstered by the two appendices (A and B) attached at the end, containing screenshots of some elements of Duolingo and answers to the questions 10 and 12 of the survey that provide interesting insights.
