View through CrossRef
This study examines the economic and environmental benefits of the concreting of National Route 79 (N79) and Lim-Siocon Road in the Philippines. It explores the impacts of improved road infrastructure on regional trade, market accessibility, job creation, and environmental sustainability. Using a descriptive-correlational research design, the study assesses how road quality, transportation efficiency, and drainage systems affect local economies and ecosystems. The findings reveal that the concreting of these roads has significantly enhanced economic accessibility, facilitated business growth, reduced transportation costs, and improved public safety. Environmentally, the project has reduced soil erosion, improved water quality, and decreased air pollution. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of sustainable drainage systems in mitigating environmental degradation. The research emphasizes the need for infrastructure projects to integrate both economic and environmental goals for long-term, sustainable development. These insights contribute to the ongoing discourse on infrastructure’s role in fostering regional growth and ecological balance.
