Arpad and Aram: Reflection of a Dimorphic Society in the Sefîre Treaty

L’article discute le contexte des termes « Tout Aram » et « Haut et Bas Aram » sur la stèle de Sefîre et dans le titre « Roi d’Aram » sur celle de Melqart. Je propose de voir en « Arpad » et « Tout Aram » les deux composantes socio-culturelles principales du royaume qui mettent en lumière la structure dimorphique de sa société. Par ailleurs, je postule que les références spatiales apparaissant dans le traité concernent des zones situées hors d’Arpad, dans les territoires des royaumes avoisinants.
