MIHAIL KOGĂLNICEANU – PREOCUPĂRI ADMINISTRATIVE ȘI EDILITAR-GOSPODĂREȘTI
View through CrossRef
The article focuses on the administrative activities carried out by Mihail Kogălniceanu. The author of this text discusses consistency and honesty, energy and perseverance, skillfulness and intolerance toward everything that was wrong and outdated, all in close connection with his constant commitment to the cause of the many and the oppressed. Additionally, by analysing Mihail Kogălniceanu’s brief administrative and/or managerial experience, the author notes that it served as professional support for Kogălniceanu in fulfilling the high responsibilities as President of the Moldavian Council of Ministers in 1860-1861 and, especially, as head of the government of the United Principalities in 1863-1865, when the great scholar, patriot, and historian fully demonstrated his reforming capabilities. Despite adversities, Mihail Kogălniceanu continued his political activity with the same energy and foresight under the constitutional monarchy established in Romania after February 11, 1866, as a parliamentarian, minister, and diplomat while pursuing scholarly endeavours. His high spiritual virtues continued to shine through, earning him the right to be elected as a titular member, and later vice-president and president of the country’s highest scientific and cultural forum (i.e., the Romanian Academy).
