This chapter looks at some of the industry marketing campaigns that took over Nauru in an effort to unite refugee and local and consolidate the industry's mode of capital accumulation well into the future. It draws on observations from the field to examine industry cultural events designed to stimulate and sustain the refugee economy in Nauru. It also discusses how resource frictions enveloped Nauru throughout the industry's operations, reviewing cultural projects around refugee celebration and multiculturalism that were made relevant to Nauru's territory. The chapter highlights cultural practices, major events and exhibits, and artifacts endeavored that make refugees into icons of a new national island tradition that would establish Nauru as a refugee resettlement hub for Australia. It talks about events, like the Nauru Eid celebration, that looked to reconcile refugees and locals to the realities of long-term resettlement in Nauru.
