Dante e Federico Zuccari: due modi diversi di raccontare la Divina Commedia
View through CrossRef
The subject of this contribution is the relationship between Federico Zuccari’s illustrations for the Divine Comedy and Dante’s original text. A text and its illustrations – as words and images – are always profoundly different; yet Federico appears even more independent than many other Renaissance illustrators of Dante. At the same time, some of the divergences reflect a more general misreading of certain passages of Dante’s text, the correct interpretation of which is of equal importance here as Federico’s drawings.
