Federico Zuccari nella lessicografia italiana

View through CrossRef
This article examines the presence of quotations from Federico Zuccari’s texts within Italian lexicography. In order to properly assess the citation impact of Zuccari, the investigation begins by evaluating the presence of authors related to the arts, which is significantly underrepresented because the principal dictionaries describe a model of language based on old Florentine vernacular, specially the literary one. Zuccari's texts are absent from all the dictionaries produced between the 18th and 19th centuries, which were systematically reviewed, as well as from the Grande Dizionario della Lingua Italiana, which today stands as the primary historical dictionary of the Italian language. This gap is particularly significant since Zuccari is characterized by a speculative neologism approach that, while bearing substantial differences, recalls that of Leonardo da Vinci himself.
