Students Attitudes towards Electric Vehicles: Analyzing the factors influencing Adoption

View through CrossRef
Electric vehicles (EVs) have emerged as a key element of this paradigm shift, providing not only a means of reducing emissions but also serving as a catalyst for a fundamental re-evaluation of the transportation system and modes of transportation. There are different types of Electric Vehicles which encourage the people to shift from traditional vehicles to the former case. The advantages associated with the Electric vehicles are cost saving, easy maintenance, energy efficiency, style, government policies and in some cases the environmental concern.  Many researchers focus on the reasons and perceptions of shifting from traditional vehicles to electric vehicles.  The present research focuses on the perception of management students of south India towards the electric vehicles and it is found that age, gender and educational qualification don’t have any impact on the adoption process of electric vehicles in their transportation.  Only the case of willingness to purchase the electric vehicle and recommendation of electric vehicle have differences with respect to educational qualification and age factors.  Cost saving is the first and foremost aspect of shift from traditional vehicles to electric vehicles.
