Nathanael Church, Tierp, Uppland 2007

The picture has been taken in connection with cultural historical characterization of the Nathanael Church, Tierp April 2007. The Nathanael Church was inaugurated in 1934 and is built of brick with smooth-plastered white facades. It is oriented north-south with towers to the north and cows to the south and sacristy to the east. The choral part is narrower than the longhouse. The church has a steep saddle roof covered with slate slabs. The tower roof is fitted with a copperplate clad lanternin that is crowned by a gilded cross. The longhouse is provided with large, round-arched window openings with wooden arches painted in light gray and the tower has large wooden sound gaps. The entrance in the ground floor of the tower is provided with a classic portico crowned by a temple gable. The church is designed by architect Lars Nilsson Gramén. It has a very traditional character. Many churches erected in the 1920s and 30s relate in their style to older parish churches and the Church of Nathanel is one of them.
