ABORDĂRI GEOCRITICE ÎN PROZA LUI ZÜLFÜ LIVANELI

The spatial turn in literary studies prompts the exploration of cultural identities by reevaluating theoretical and critical tools, with a particular focus on spaces, places, and distances. Zülfü Livaneli, an internationally acclaimed author, delves into themes of refugee drama, traumatic experiences, and human fate, intertwining them with political and historical events and the ever-evolving world map. By focusing on Turkey’s recent history and its entanglement with Western-Eastern geopolitical dynamics, the prose of the Turkish author becomes a prime example for geocritical approaches. With this article, our aim is to analyse a selection of Zülfü Livaneli’s novels from the perspective of literary mappings and observe how the identity discourse of a space is organized, at the point of convergence between several cultures.
