A Discussion of the Authenticity of the Jian-Goguryeo-Stele(집안고구려비/Koguryo Tablet of Jian)

This essay has explored the authenticity of the Jian-Goguryeo-Stele which was found in July 2012 where Jian city in China. Jian was one of the capitals of the ancient Goguryeo Kingdom in the Korean history. The contents of this stele related to the epitaph of the Great King Kwang-Gae-To tombstone which erected in 414 AD relating to the Mausoleum-guarding. However, this new source is supposed to a pseudograph when it comes to the literary style and its contents, comparing other historic sources. There are four main supporting ideas.
First of all, the literary style is different from ancient Chinese literature applied in ancient Korean literature. The sentences consist of four or six words come together and make sense, and this style represents how it reveals contemporary Chinese character.
Secondly, the main contents about the tomb-keepers’ role and backdrop are not correspond with the Great King Kwang-Gae-To tombstone. It explains that the tomb-keepers’ appointment related to the trading land and slaves, but it is order from King Jangsu who the son of the Kwang-Gae-To. Moreover, there is any story about a trail and errors when appoint tomb-keepers for Kwang-Gae-To at all, although it is key aim for installation this stele.
Thirdly, there are redrafted parts and it reveals its incompleteness as a stances. This is because the last stance for the role of tomb-keepers had been changed in comparison to the Great King Kwang-Gae-To tombstone’s one.
Lastly, the event in this stele cannot be close to the fact. It could not be true that 20 people were appointed for tomb-keepers in comparison with recently research result.
