Aubusson chinoiserie tapestry depicting two cranes before a pagoda, the lower border woven with "M.R. AVBVSSON." Three trees of different varieties dominate the composition, and exotic plants and flowers appear throughout. In the background spaces visible between the trees are snowcapped mountains and edifices that resemble temples and ruins. Two birds on a river bank (akin to the crane and great egret found in 1953.112) fill the central space. This Louis XV chinoiserie tapestry belongs to the 'Chinese landscape' series (see entry for 1960.3).The border includes a narrow band with a gold rope motif and a wide band with a flower garland.
