Ivan Peresvetov ve "Sultan Mehmed Menkıbesi"

Rus yazarı Ivan Peresvetov 1547 yılında yazdığı "Sultan Mehmet Menkıbesi"ni (Skazanie o Magmete-Saltane) 1549 yılında Kremlin kilisesinde 19 yaşındaki çar Korkunç Ivan'a sunmuştur. "Sultan Mehmet Menkıbesi" Ivan Peresvetov'un genç çara sunduğu iki kitapçıktan oluşan "Başvuru"nun (Çelobitnaya) bir bölümüdür. Peresvetov'un "Başvuru"su eski Rus edebiyatında başka örnekleri de bulunan ve başvuran kişinin isteklerini güçlü prenslere ya da çara (XVI. yüzyıldan itibaren) sundukları dilekçe niteliğinde bir edebiyat türüdür. Peresvetov'un "Başvuru" kitapçıklarında "Sultan Mehmet Menkıbesi"nden başka "Kutsal Kitaplar Üzerine Menkıbe" (Skazanie o knigah), son Bizans kralı hakkındaki "Konstantin Menkıbesi" (Skazanie o Konstantine) ve ayrıca yazarın "Üç Krala" hizmetini anlatan bir otobiyografisi vardır.
