Abstract
For a short period in 1907 Grainger and his mother lived at 26 Coulson Street, in a quiet row of small Georgian houses running parallel to the King’s Road near Sloane Square. The following year he heard for the first time a chamber work of the French composer Gabriel Faure and in March, when the Frenchman was staying in London; his host John Singer Sargent arranged a meeting with Grainger.
