The Armenian American Museum

View through CrossRef
This chapter talks about the Armenian American Museum, wherein Armenians from many backgrounds can learn about their history in the United States and embody a new generation of multiethnic US suburban residents whose contributions cultivate and enrich their cities throughout the country. The museum exemplifies the local implications of ethnopolitical entrepreneurs' invocation of ethnicity to incorporate immigrants and influence political institutions. The chapter reflects key insights explored in the examination of suburbia as new domains of political incorporation among diverse immigrant populations throughout the United States. It seeks to extract from the study of Glendale's Armenians some of the most fundamental strengths, which could be applied in other suburban contexts. It also reiterates the shortcomings of suburban ethnopolitical entrepreneurs and offers some suggestions about how the next generation of ethnopolitical entrepreneurs might consider overcoming these pitfalls.
