AbstractSkinner, Burrhus Frederic (1904–1990), an American behaviourist psychologist, whose invention of the operant conditioning chamber or ‘Skinner box’ stimulated the laboratory investigation of behaviour, especially conditioning with positive reinforcement. He sought to apply his methods to human behaviour modification and it became a significant tool in clinical and educational psychology.
