LARYSA PETRYCHENKO: A VOCATION TO INSPIRE
View through CrossRef
A teacher is not just a profession, but a true calling to
change the world around us, to inspire us to achieve, to
prepare a worthy future generation. Only those who are truly
dedicated to their work, who show love and respect for
children, confidence and responsibility for their work, can
fulfil the important mission of educating and training children
and young people with dignity.
Public, social, economic and political changes are
constantly placing new demands on the work and personality of a teacher. A modern
specialist should be not only a carrier of knowledge, but also a bright, creative
personality, open to innovative changes, capable of continuous professional and
personal growth. Most importantly, a teacher should contribute to the comprehensive
development of their students.

The role of a teacher in higher education plays a special role, because
professional activity goes beyond teaching. A teacher realises himself or herself as an
assistant and mentor, a researcher, an organiser, and a manager of the educational
space. In addition, a true teacher must be able to combine his or her work with social
activity and engage higher education students in cooperation.
A true professional is able to effectively combine all these areas, forming a
modern educational space, and be a worthy role model for future educators. They are
the teachers of the 21st century.
The Kharkiv region is rich in outstanding teachers and thinkers who influenced
the development of education and science in the country and the region, and the results
of their work are echoed by their contemporaries. We can mention Kh. Alchevska,
D. Bahalii, V. Karazin, M. Lysenko, A. Makarenko, O. Potebnia, H. Skovoroda and
others who laid the foundation for the development of education and science in modern
Ukraine.
Among the contemporary figures who have made a significant contribution to
the development of higher education and science, a special place is occupied by
Larysa Petrychenko, First Vice-Rector of the Municipal Establishment «Kharkiv
Humanitarian Pedagogical Academy» of the Kharkiv Regional Council (hereinafter
referred to as the Academy), Professor of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology,
Primary Education and Educational Management, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences,
Professor.
