The Portland Vase

The lithograph is one of the illustrations to T Windus's interpretation of the subject of the Portland Vase (see Bibliography).The lithograph shows part of the frieze on the Portland vase. The vase is made of blue glass with a cameo-cut relief in white glass. It originally had a base, possibly pointed like an amphora, replaced by a disc of cameo glass (see Classical Antiquities 12.2).
