Lightweight Suntracker for Balloon Applications
View through CrossRef
A lightweight inexpensive suntracker for balloon applications is described. The entire tracking system including power supplies for a 12-hr flight weighs 1.76 kg. The system has demonstrated in the laboratory a capability of pointing a 1.42-kg load at the sun within ±0.12°. A very simple and reliable acquisition and tracking technique is employed which uses no vacuum tubes or transistors.
