About this conferenceFrom August 9 to 11, 2024, the 10th International Academic Conference on Water Resources and Civil Engineering and Forum on Engineering Safety and Disaster Prevention was successfully held in Zhengzhou City, hosted by the School of Water Resources and Transportation, Zhengzhou University, and the National Key Laboratory of Tunnel Boring Machine and Intelligent Operation and Maintenance. The conference is dedicated to discussing the cutting‐edge theories and key technologies in the fields of water conservancy, civil engineering, transportation as well as safety science and engineering in the context of digital intelligence, which is of great significance for guaranteeing the safety of construction and operation of the national major infrastructures and improving the capacity of multi‐hazard emergency management. The forum collected 14 conference reports and 90 session reports, and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Hu Ya'an, Zhang Zongliang and Liu Hanlong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, director of the Yellow River Laboratory (Henan Province) and professor of Zhengzhou University Wang Fuming, vice president of Zhengzhou University Hu Shaowei, as well as more than 200 delegates from more than 40 higher education institutes and scientific research institutes around the world attended the meeting to share the progress of cutting‐edge research in the fields of engineering safety and disaster prevention and mitigation. The conference was attended by more than 200 delegates from 40 universities and research institutes from all over the world, who exchanged their views on engineering safety and disaster prevention and reduction.The opening ceremony of the conference was hosted by Guo Jinjun, Dean of the School of Water Resources and Transportation of Zhengzhou University. Mr. Hu Shaowei, Vice President of Zhengzhou University, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the university and introduced the scale, history and construction of water conservancy engineering disciplines of Zhengzhou University and School of Water Resources and Transportation. Wang Hongjie, executive vice president of Henan Water Resources Society, Wang Zhaodong, president of Henan Civil Engineering and Architecture Society, and Academician Zhang Zongliang, chairman of the Academic Committee of the conference, delivered speeches.Wang Fuming, Hu Ya'an, Zhang Zongliang and Liu Hanlong, academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Fu Guangtao, professor of the University of Exeter, professor of the International Water Association, Zhou Xiangming, chair professor and dean of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Brunel University, London, UK, and other special guests and Hu Shaowei, vice president of Zhengzhou University, Liang Qiuhua, vice dean of the School of Water Resources and Transportation, made a report on the conference. In addition, the conference set up a sub‐forum of hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, integrated disciplines and postdoctoral forum, nearly 200 scholars exchanged and discussed the scientific research results and progress in the field of engineering safety and disaster prevention and mitigation.Review ProcessStep 1. To keep scientific integrity, one of our editors will run iThenticate on each new submission to see if has a problem with possible plagiarism. Papers not passing the plagiarism check will be desk rejected immediately.Step 2. Then the publication chairs will have an initial check on the new submission to ensure it's within the scope of the conference, and decide if it merits further review. If the new manuscript passed the initial check, it will be assigned to reviewers for double‐blind peer review.Step 3. Each selected paper will be reviewed by at least two/three independent experts with related research backgrounds mainly on originality, validity, quality and readability.Step 4. Review Reports received from the experts will be judged by one of the editors with international scientific standards.Step 5. If logical, then Review Reports will be sent to authors to modify the manuscript accordingly. If not rational, then the editor can assign a new reviewer or can also judge on his/her own.Step 6. Authors will be required to revise their papers according to the points raised.Step 7. The revised version will then be evaluated by the publication chairs whether the points raised by the reviewers have been addressed or not.Step 8. Then the publication chairs will send the revised manuscript to the reviewers again for re‐evaluation.Step 9. If the reviewers approve the revised version of the manuscript, then the Conference Organizing Committee will make the final decision for the publication.

Review ProcessStep 1.
