Green and maroon tartan dress, maker unknown, UK, ca. 1960. Dress of dark green and maroon tartan wool mox fabric. The dress for about a 6-7 year old has elasticated capped sleeves, multicoloured smocked bodice and a sash, tying at the back. handmade, about 1960, worn in Scotland. Peter Pan style collar in a cream/white cotton fabric. The collar is detachable in one part and has curved points at the front and angular ones at the back. The collar would be sewn onto the dress and still has evidence of a couple of maroon threads where that has happened in the past. The edges of the collar have been finished with a delicate line of crochet half wheel designs that have been sandwiched between the double thickness of the collar. Tartan wool mix ?.
