Evaluation of morphological and biochemical properties of Digera muricata L. (Mart)
View through CrossRef
Phytochemicals are essential for scavenging free radicals and avoiding oxidative damage. Digera muricata a useful traditional medicinal plant in India used for chronic diseases (correlated with oxidative stress) which is caused by an imbalance between the generation of free radicals and the body’s antioxidant defense mechanism. Current examination was conducted on the different biotypes of Digera muricata in the laboratory of Department of Botany, Baba Mastnath University, Rohtak. The study of various biotypes indicated considerable differences in plant height, number of secondary branches, and leaf fresh and dry weight owing to climatic circumstances. The plant height ranged from 84.8±1.344cm to 91.0±1.514cm, with an average number of secondary branches ranging from 8.4±0.505 to 12.0±0.238. The fresh leaf weight ranged from 38.8±0.765g to 66.2±0.069g, whereas the dry leaf weight ranged from 10.1±0.068g to 16.4±0.068g. At a 5% level of significance, these findings reveal significant heterogeneity in plant height, secondary branches, and leaf weight across selected biotypes.
